[00:00:00] Speaker A: W v UA F m Tuscaloosa. [00:00:09] Speaker B: Welcome back to 90.7 the morning show. I'm back with Christie. [00:00:21] Speaker C: I beat the feral hogs, folks. [00:00:23] Speaker B: It took him specifically. [00:00:25] Speaker C: I had to get saved by Big Al himself. [00:00:27] Speaker B: Through Big Al, all things are possible, as we believe on 90.7 the morning show. And it took a whole month of battling those hogs to finally get back here to us. Do you want to tell us about it? [00:00:38] Speaker C: Well, they gave me a possible line fracture. They gave me some wrist sprains and elbow sprains. They beat me up pretty well, but we beat them. Sadly, one of our dear friends did not. [00:00:52] Speaker B: That's right. [00:00:54] Speaker C: Alan Jenkins. [00:00:55] Speaker D: Jenkins. [00:00:56] Speaker B: Richard Jenkins himself lost a strong legacy, a strong, strong legacy of old Ricky Jenkins. Wow. What service. Laying down his life to fight the Pharaoh hogs so Christian could escape snaps for Richard. You want to give him the proper send off here on 90.7 the morning show, funeral edition. [00:01:26] Speaker D: Indeed. [00:01:26] Speaker C: Live performance of DSC Ray or what are we doing? [00:01:28] Speaker B: Yeah, you get us started and I'll chime in. [00:01:31] Speaker C: Ds E Ray, DS. [00:01:36] Speaker B: Ds. That's about all he deserved, honestly. We keep it real on 90.7 the morning show. Kristen's is not with us anymore. We don't know what he's doing. That old funny bunny of ours, Richard Jenkins. All right. Well, right now on 90.7 the morning show, we believe in best two out of three. So the two of us will be bringing the rest of this show all the way up until 10:00 a.m. So stay tuned for class until I. [00:02:12] Speaker C: Need to figure out how far away class is. [00:02:14] Speaker D: I still haven't done that yet. [00:02:15] Speaker B: Imagine leaving the show early because you have to make it somewhere. Like, I can't imagine. [00:02:19] Speaker C: Couldn't be. [00:02:20] Speaker B: Couldn't possibly imagine. Not anymore. [00:02:22] Speaker C: Not anymore. Oh, how the tables have turned. [00:02:25] Speaker B: All you listeners listening on the radio or on tune in now. On tune in now. On tune in for all you 90.7. [00:02:33] Speaker C: WVUA FM shows are now on tune in. [00:02:35] Speaker B: Just search up WVUA and you'll find us. But for all you listening, I'm running the board now. There's going to be little changes around here, and by changes, it's pretty much going to be the same. [00:02:47] Speaker C: Yeah. Also, Danielle, if you're there, if you're. [00:02:50] Speaker B: Still listening, I've spent all month trying to get Danielle on the phone and she's still not picking up. [00:02:54] Speaker C: Dan yelling. [00:02:55] Speaker B: I know. I've been. Dan yelling at her. [00:02:58] Speaker C: Dan yelling at Danielle. [00:02:59] Speaker B: No, Danielle. [00:03:00] Speaker C: Well, people cry out for Danielle. Well, renting of clothing, wearing of sack, ripping of sackcloth, crying out in the streets for Danielle. [00:03:10] Speaker B: I think it would be the greatest if Danielle called in, but until then, we're going to be playing the greatest by cat power. [00:03:35] Speaker D: Welcome back to 90.7, the morning show. [00:03:40] Speaker B: We fixed a few mic issues. [00:03:43] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:03:43] Speaker B: Christian, you coming in? Clearly? [00:03:45] Speaker D: I think I am on mic three, I'd hope. [00:03:47] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:47] Speaker B: Not Mike. [00:03:48] Speaker D: I am not Mike. Two. [00:03:49] Speaker B: You're not on mic two. [00:03:50] Speaker D: That's why it sounded like I was across the room, because I was. Yeah, I essentially was, but yeah. Anyway. [00:03:57] Speaker B: Oh, well, we're back with your favorite segment. So it was big Al's birthday. [00:04:09] Speaker D: It was. We love celebrating our dear elephantine friend. [00:04:14] Speaker B: He is gargantuan. Aliwicius is near and dear to all our hearts. [00:04:21] Speaker D: Indeed. [00:04:21] Speaker B: And he deserves a birthday. I think he was turning like 45, 46 or something. I don't know how old elephants are, but he's got probably a full spirit to him. [00:04:30] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:04:30] Speaker B: He's got childlike wonder. [00:04:32] Speaker D: He does have a childlike whimsy to him, naturally, that we all really should take from. [00:04:37] Speaker B: We really should. He's a model to us all. [00:04:41] Speaker D: Indeed. [00:04:42] Speaker B: And so first we're going to kick it off with Miguel. His birthday party at the gymnastics meet against. [00:04:51] Speaker D: Shoot. I'm trying to remember who I wasn't against. [00:04:54] Speaker B: Mizzou. Against Mizzou. That was his birthday party and a bunch of his mascot friends showed up. And indeed, it was a good, sweet. I made him a birthday card. You made him a piece of post. [00:05:06] Speaker D: Can we get this held up to the microphone for our viewers? [00:05:09] Speaker B: Photo ready to hold it to the microphone. But this deserves. [00:05:13] Speaker D: Both do, probably, honestly. [00:05:15] Speaker B: All right. And this is like the unfinished. So I recreated a photo of him on his instagram. [00:05:20] Speaker D: Splendid. [00:05:20] Speaker B: A lot of detail. [00:05:21] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. That's nice. [00:05:22] Speaker B: And then on the inside, I went to cvs and I printed out a few photos of me and big Al. And I wrote a nice message to Big Al and then a nice message to the team. [00:05:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:31] Speaker B: And so then I brought it up and I was able to give it to him. I wasn't actually able to give it to him at his birthday party. [00:05:37] Speaker D: Okay. [00:05:37] Speaker B: I had to go to the next week to the Arkansas one, where he was dressed up as Batman. And when I gave him the. Whoever was in the, you know, gives everyone a hug. [00:05:47] Speaker A: Right? Yeah. [00:05:47] Speaker B: But the person in the suit, I think, was actually really sweet. [00:05:53] Speaker D: What do you mean, person in the suit? You're telling me Big Al is not a sentient. [00:05:56] Speaker B: Big Al is a character. That needs a little bit of help. [00:05:59] Speaker D: This is the first time hearing of this, quite frankly, I didn't know that. [00:06:02] Speaker B: It's a conspiracy. Everyone's in on it, even her. So that was the birthday card. And so I gave it to him. So Big Al was very happy to receive the card. And then fast forward just a little bit. Big Al went to the pool. Did you see that video? [00:06:20] Speaker D: Oh, I did. [00:06:20] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:06:20] Speaker D: Him jumping in. [00:06:22] Speaker B: So first of all, Aubby was already in. Know that little rat. [00:06:28] Speaker D: Yellow bellied coward. [00:06:30] Speaker B: I know we don't like him. And so Big Al jumps into the pool, and then he posts this photo of him looking just sad, distraught, wet. [00:06:39] Speaker D: He looks ever so morose in this image. [00:06:41] Speaker B: It looks like he's being scolded, literally. Big Al's instagram is just. [00:06:45] Speaker D: It's the top. [00:06:46] Speaker B: It's just top notch. [00:06:47] Speaker D: It's the cat's meow. [00:06:48] Speaker B: Quality content. [00:06:50] Speaker D: The bee's knees. [00:06:51] Speaker B: It is the bee's knees. But he looked all cold and wet. But if you go outside today, what will you be? Well, you can find out on the. [00:07:07] Speaker E: Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Do not distort the weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. [00:07:24] Speaker A: Weather report. [00:07:26] Speaker E: All righty, folks. [00:07:27] Speaker D: It's currently 43 degrees and mostly sunny. We get a high of 56, a low of 38. Going to be sunny all day today. We also have good air quality. The sun's going to set at 520, and we have a dew point of 35 with a humidity of 72%. It feels like 39 degrees. [00:07:48] Speaker A: Sounds like good weather on the. [00:07:53] Speaker E: Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. [00:08:04] Speaker B: Whether the weather's good or bad, we've always got something to make you glad on 90.7, the morning show. [00:08:09] Speaker D: Time for your daily affirmation. This one has been inspired by Big Al, our dear friend, our favorite pachyoderm. Today I will approach the world with the childlike whimsy and wonderful wonder that big Al possesses. I will inhibit the spirit of Big Al and the inspiration that he is. And I will learn to enjoy all the little things in life, like the sun shining or the little squirrels or the pretty trees. And I will really live in that world of childlike whimsy and wonderful today and have a joyous day. That's your daily affirmation, folks. And a beautiful take, old pony, boys. [00:08:51] Speaker B: And a beautiful affirmation. That was all right. We're going to kick off the music with yellow lead. Better by Pearl Jam. And we'll be right back with you shortly on. [00:09:24] Speaker A: 90.7, the morning show. [00:09:30] Speaker D: Now. Right now, first off, I think it's time for everyone's new favorite segment, musical theater. [00:09:37] Speaker B: Watch. Right. My favorite. [00:09:40] Speaker D: All right, now, you see any quality musical theater lately? [00:09:43] Speaker B: Yes, I did. Well, when I was in the big city, the Big Apple, Big Apple itself, I went to know Broadway rhythm. It's got me. Everybody dance in New York, New York. Forget about New York slice. I told the listeners that first week back the story of how I got an authentic slice of New York. Well, I was busy battling the was middle. It was a hole in the wall pizza place, splendiferous. And the guy, I was worried that the person giving me my pizza would hurt me. And I was worried the person standing behind would hurt me. [00:10:19] Speaker A: That's New York, New York for you. That's authentic New York, baby. [00:10:23] Speaker B: I was so glad when someone came in and stood right behind me because I'm like, yes. The fear is what makes it taste better. [00:10:27] Speaker D: Yeah, the adrenaline makes it real yummy. [00:10:29] Speaker B: I went and saw Chicago. [00:10:32] Speaker D: Chicago 5678. [00:10:48] Speaker B: All right, well, I just saw that. All that Jazz, the old razzle dazzle. [00:10:52] Speaker D: Give him the old razzle. [00:10:53] Speaker B: It was splendidiferous row after row with this grom vociferous, right? [00:10:59] Speaker D: Wonderful. Splendid. [00:11:01] Speaker B: That's good music, right? Musical theater, they were great. But do you know who the. [00:11:05] Speaker D: Wait, I have a musical theater watch first. [00:11:07] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, sorry. Yeah, what's yours? [00:11:09] Speaker D: Of course. So I recently saw hit musical, hit local musical concert performance. Like a concert version of a musical performance from 2017 for theater Tuscaloosa. Ragtime, the people called it ragtime ragtime. It was really good stuff. I will say I cried about five to six times during it. I was with my friends. They were tearing up throughout, too. It was real emotional, but great musical. Really enjoyed it. Sadly, didn't get a New York slice at it. Did get some popping corn. [00:11:44] Speaker B: I mean, that's okay, but it's no. [00:11:46] Speaker A: New York sloy for popping. [00:11:49] Speaker B: Well. [00:11:50] Speaker D: But other than that, I think it's a holiday today, don't you? It's a major holiday. But do you know what holiday it could be, Andrew? [00:11:58] Speaker A: I think it would be Weezer Wednesday. [00:12:03] Speaker D: Oh, 90.7 the morning show. That's right. It's Weezer Wednesday. Now I have a fact from our dear [email protected]. From ten years ago, this very day. This day, ten years ago, a whole decade. [00:12:15] Speaker B: Wow. [00:12:16] Speaker D: This day in 2014, the air of our Lord Weezer performed at the Coors Light bird's nest. Wow. In Scottsdale, Arizona, on their 2014 tour. [00:12:25] Speaker A: Nice. [00:12:25] Speaker D: I'm sure it was a phenomenal show. One of the best. [00:12:28] Speaker B: One of the best. [00:12:28] Speaker D: All the weezer shows are the best, though. People are saying, many people are saying this. [00:12:33] Speaker B: Many people are saying many such cases. [00:12:35] Speaker D: Now, with that being said, my sweetest dreams are always of Weezer. [00:12:41] Speaker B: And sweet dreams are made of these by Weezer. We'll be right back with more. 90.7 the morning show. You know, I'm honestly, I'm really hungry, you know? [00:13:16] Speaker D: But you know what serves phenomenal food these days? [00:13:19] Speaker B: Well, after breakfast time, I think you mean the fresh food company. [00:13:23] Speaker D: Indeed. Well, they also have breakfast. [00:13:25] Speaker B: I mean, they have breakfast, but it's just not that good. [00:13:29] Speaker D: To each their own. I kind of like it sometimes. [00:13:30] Speaker B: It's okay, man. They got that waffle maker. [00:13:32] Speaker D: I haven't been since they introduced the waffle maker. I got to try it out. I've had a few waffles, from what I hear, too. Lakeside now has like, an omelet bar. [00:13:40] Speaker B: They do. [00:13:41] Speaker D: I need to try that out. I haven't been yet either. [00:13:42] Speaker B: I'm not an egg guy, though. I'm not a big egg guy, but. [00:13:45] Speaker D: I like omelets anyway. But that's not important. We love fresh food. [00:13:47] Speaker B: But more than just the people love fresh food, the critters. We're bringing you news of an ongoing war for the fresh food territory. [00:13:55] Speaker D: That's right. Other than the famed gopher. Watch the gopher sightings. We know about possum watch. We have seen possums. I saw a possum last night by fresh foods. [00:14:03] Speaker B: Hold it up to the microphone. [00:14:04] Speaker D: Let me hold these images up to the microphone so our listeners can see. Can you all see that? [00:14:08] Speaker A: Okay. [00:14:08] Speaker D: You can see it. Good. Wonderful. Look at this guy. He's a big. And let me tell you, you know. [00:14:12] Speaker B: Those big arrows on the road that show the direction of the traffic? They're pretty big. [00:14:17] Speaker D: And he's taking up, like, most of. [00:14:19] Speaker B: Taking up most of the space. This is a big. [00:14:22] Speaker D: It's a big old pop. [00:14:25] Speaker B: And then. So I think he's going to define the gopher. And I think they're about to fight like they are going to fight over the territory. [00:14:34] Speaker D: We need the UN to come in and mediate this gopher battle. People are saying, if not, I'm going to try. I can try and be a mediator. [00:14:41] Speaker B: This is one of the biggest. [00:14:42] Speaker D: I served in high school, student government. [00:14:44] Speaker B: Me too. So, yeah, I was secretary of student events. [00:14:48] Speaker D: We're former governmental officials. It's like when Jimmy Carter goes around to try and mediate conflict. We can do this, I think. [00:14:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm the peanut farmer himself. [00:14:57] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:14:58] Speaker B: But there's more than just gophers versus opysomes. This is rodents. [00:15:06] Speaker A: Vmars versus marsupials. [00:15:09] Speaker B: Who do you know? If you're on the rodent side, you have the newly famous capibara. Big taking the Internet by storm. But then on the marsupial side, you have the longtime favorite of the koala bear. [00:15:22] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. No, everyone loves a koala. [00:15:23] Speaker B: It's not just rodents versus marsupials. It's not just gophers versus opossums. Can you pick the capibara or the koala bear? Listeners love you to death. Think about it. [00:15:41] Speaker D: Think about it, folks. And Danielle, call in. [00:15:44] Speaker B: Danielle, please us, call in and tell us if you want the gopher to win or if you want the opossum to win. [00:15:53] Speaker A: All right. [00:15:54] Speaker D: Yeah. Folks, come to your own conclusions, do your own research. But let's really pray for peace in this conflict. [00:16:01] Speaker B: I'm just hoping that everyone is going to be okay. [00:16:04] Speaker D: So true. And everyone has fun. That's what really matters. [00:16:07] Speaker A: All right. [00:16:07] Speaker D: They try their hardest. [00:16:09] Speaker B: Well, we're taking this back to the music with holy hell by Eddie Chacon on 90.7 the morning show. [00:16:24] Speaker A: WVUA FM, Tuscaloosa. Folks, welcome back to 90.7 the morning show. [00:16:43] Speaker D: It's time, I believe, for one of your favorite parts of the morning in which you learn about the great outdoors. That's right. Could it be time? Could it, Andrew? Possibly be or. Apostomy. [00:16:57] Speaker B: That's good. Apostomy. [00:17:04] Speaker D: Apotheimly be time for us. [00:17:15] Speaker E: Weather report. [00:17:16] Speaker A: Weather report. Weather report. [00:17:18] Speaker E: Weather report. [00:17:19] Speaker A: Weather report. Weather report. Weather report, weather report. We're not the sort the weather report, weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report, weather report. [00:17:33] Speaker B: Good morning, Tuscaloosa. 45 degrees with a high of 56 and a low of 38. Expect to see that bright sunshine all day. Right now the air quality is nice and good. Right now the wind 8 miles an hour with 18 miles an hour gusts and it feels like is 41 on the. [00:17:56] Speaker E: Weather report. Weather report. [00:17:58] Speaker A: Weather. [00:17:58] Speaker E: Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. Weather report. [00:18:05] Speaker A: Weather report. [00:18:06] Speaker E: Weather report. [00:18:07] Speaker A: Weather report. [00:18:08] Speaker E: Weather report. [00:18:10] Speaker B: Whether the weather is good or bad, we've always got something to make you glad on 90.7 the morning show. [00:18:18] Speaker D: That's right. Well, folks, according to our student government association president, Collier Dobbs. Well, first off, this is from the Crimson White, where we all get our we get all our news and views. Every single last news and views is gotten from there. President Dobbs has recognized successes in our state of the school address. This came out yesterday, January 30. This is by Emma Brandenburg. Always remember to tell who your writers are. He highlighted SGA commitment to creating meaningful programming, legislation and initiatives while remaining faithful to campaign promises. Their work has been guided by collaboration, outrage, unity, networking, transparency discusses how the student board of Governors successfully collaborated with U Athletics to allow every mysource registered organization to apply for block seating, which is great. This is also there's collaboration with Saving the Tide, a cleanup and recycling initiative after game day self defense series with the UA Police Department. Initiatives to get students encouraged on campus. The SGA has been partnering with the public Defender's office to establish an ongoing clothing drive to benefit defendants who don't have access to proper attire for court appearances and 2745 students have been registered for the Di passport program the year 2023. Many fundraising events, like the Battle of the bands have raised money for the Joe ESP needs based scholarship, along with the financial affairs committee, has allocated $150,377 to different student organizations and many other phenomenal happenings on campus. So. That's right. Thankfully, our government's doing good work and we're having things are looking up on campus. So that's some good news for us. [00:20:09] Speaker B: And another good news, I'm holding up a picture of a possum and a gopher fighting. [00:20:14] Speaker D: He drew. This is an illustration of the ongoing battles that happen every night, apparently. [00:20:19] Speaker B: Andrew Drew. [00:20:20] Speaker D: Andrew Drew. [00:20:21] Speaker B: Andrew Drew. [00:20:22] Speaker D: Andrew Drew, folks. [00:20:23] Speaker B: So right now, the possum, for all of you that can't see it, is leaping forward, and there's lines coming behind him to show he's leaping very fast and he's got his claws, his possum claws out. Now the gopher is standing still and strong with an arm out. He's in a stance you can see very closely. If you look at the details, the gopher is actually a black belt. You can tell because he's wearing a black, and it's. You can tell that they're just a mere moment away from beginning what might be the fight of the century. But it's not all good news. [00:20:58] Speaker D: It's not all good news, folks. Sadly, much like Andrew last semester, I have to get on to class. [00:21:04] Speaker B: Wow. [00:21:05] Speaker D: That's right. Got to walk to tin horror history. 307. Shout out to history of korean pop culture. [00:21:13] Speaker A: So with that being said, this is what it's like. [00:21:16] Speaker D: Indeed. It's heartbreaking stuff. But I'll see you next week, dear listeners and dear Andrew, so long. Farewell. I'll feed a zane. Goodbye. I have to go. Good wrap and leave this lovely do. So stay gold pony boys. [00:21:36] Speaker B: All right. And if you want to listen to the sound of of music, we've got plenty more tunes for you here on 90.7, the morning show. In the break, I learned how to draw a gopher because coming back to our battle that I've drawn between the gopher and the. And the opossum, it started off as just a martial arts gopher fighting a semirealistic opossum. Unfortunately, it's jump shark off the deep end. The gopher's gone Super Saiyan and is hitting the gopher with his signature gopher blast. So to even things out, I drew a very realistic gopher, which I am now holding up to the screen for. Not the screen to the microphone for everyone. As you can see, it's realistic proportions from a gopher picture that I found on Google images. Well, that concludes the saga about the gopher and the possum, at least for now. We'll bring in more updates next week as their battle for the fresh food company continues. Right now, Christian's on his way to fight those feral hogs on Bryce Lawn on the way to his class. Unfortunately, I have to get ready to go fight those hogs myself. Thank you for everyone listening on the radio or it be on tunein. If you're not on tune in yet, make sure to get on download, tune in on your App Store, search up WVUA and you can start listening in just a few minutes. Everyone take care for the next week. I'm Andrew and this was 90.7, the morning show.
